I don't know how long I've been wanting to open an Etsy shop - but I've finally gotten around to actually doing it! I've only got one item for sale so far, so keep checking back within the next month because I hope to get some more items up soon!
But for now, if you would like several coloring pages to relieve some stress - go ahead and check out my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ColorMeAbby Hope you enjoy! -Abby Recently I finished a poster for Bluffton University's Annual Student Juried Art Show as well as the poster for Cabaret for a Cause. I'm currently in the process of creating a poster for The Beaver Monologues which I will post later. It's nice to be asked to do these poster projects as I don't have any graphic design classes this semester - I miss getting to be creative in my own way. My internship doesn't really allow this kind of creativity.I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to write a blog. But a lot of things have been happening lately - which might be why I've been so busy, First of all, at the end of last semester I was asked by my art faculty to participate in an online Ohio art competition known as AICUO Art Awards (here is my online portfolio with them: http://www.aicuoartaward.com/aicuoEVAs16/portfolio.aspx?pID=147
I was not selected as a finalist - but the competition was a great experience to take part in! I did get some promo as I have been asked to include one or two of my pieces in the Gallery Hop in Columbus in May. So that is really exciting! Other news that is really exciting is that my Senior Art Show is up in Bluffton's Art Gallery. The reception went really well! The gallery was full of people there supporting my peers and me. Hopefully soon I will upload a little photo sneak peek of the show reception in a new blog post. Senior year is flying by... Spring break is about to start and soon Graduation will come. Scary stuff. Fairly last minute I decided to register for the bi-annual Mennonite Arts Weekend which happens in Cincinatti, OH. Mennonites from all over come to gather in conversation about the arts. Mennonite artists from all mediums (alternative digital print, stain glass, ceramics, and fabric) and musical artists (mandolin, guitar, fiddle, piano, voice) give presentations and workshops about their artwork. Andi Baumgartner, my advisor and professor here at Bluffton University was one of the artists invited to give a presentation/workshop. It was a good weekend away from campus - and I got to practice my digital printmaking skills again! A friend of mine here at Bluffton recently started up a sustainability club. He asked me to design some logos for the club. The group voted on their favorite. This one was the "winner." (The negative space in the center of the leaves kind of represents Bluffton University's logo.)
My art professor and academic advisor was kind enough to take some studio lighting professional head shots of me. Here are two of my favorites. Which do you prefer? Ha!
Just last night I handed both of my friends their final photos from their engagement sessions. It's exciting for me and also a bit nerve-wracking. Really hoping they like them. I'm pretty happy with the turn out. Here is a sneak peek into my second session. This year I have been lucky enough to be asked by two couples from college to take their engagement pictures. It's always a privilege - I appreciate that these people (even when not super close friends) think of me to take their pictures. Yesterday, I did a session and later today I have another. We were lucky yesterday, it was cloudy and a bit chilly, but the sun still peaked out once in awhile allowing for some very nice sun shots. Today it's even colder and cloudier, so I am hoping by this afternoon it warms up and shows a little more sun! Well, here's a little sneak peek of my first session - I am very happy with the results. I love using the sun, some find it scary to work with, but it is normally my best friend! |
